ADA Honours Godwin Akhamere as Leader for Risk Optimization in Credit and Lending Finance

The Africa Digital Awards 2024 has honoured Godwin David Akhamere, Financial analysis, modeling, reporting, Data analysis, Data visualization, Investment research expert with “National Leadership Award for Risk Optimization in Credit and Lending Finance”.

The award recognises his remarkable contributions to the risk optimization in credit and lending finance, leveraging cutting-edge technology to create value, drive profitability, and achieve operational success.

Tayo Adewusi, editor-in-chief of ICT Watch magazine and organiser of Africa Digital Awards, said that the award to Godwin Akhamere is reward for excellence as demonstrated in his proven ability to drive significant improvements in efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Mr. Godwin Akhamere has consistently demonstrated excellence in MS Excel, Tableau, SQL, Tableau, Python, R; Language: English (First Language) as well as integrating technology in Risk Optimization in Credit and Lending Finance.

He has distinguished himself in these areas both national and international, at Citi bank, he performed independent credit analysis of Real Money Fund clients, including Asset Managers, Investment Advisors, and Pension Funds, using quantitative metrics (liquidity, leverage) and qualitative judgment to assess creditworthiness.

More so, drafting detailed Credit Memos and assign Final Obligor Risk Ratings based on due diligence findings, internal credit policy, and industry trends, supporting credit extension decisions within Citi’s risk appetite.

Actively monitor a portfolio of fund counterparties, identifying potential emerging risks through market surveillance and escalating material issues to BCMA partners.

He collaborates with regional underwriters, 2LoD risk teams, and BCMA stakeholders to implement consistent credit assessment and monitoring standards across funds’ portfolios.

Working at Philips North America, he conducted comprehensive financial statement analysis for over 50,000 clients to assess credit risk, identify potential credit issues, and contribute to a 95% approval rate for facilities.

Managed and reviewed the credit risk of a $500M portfolio, identifying emerging risks and opportunities, and ensuring compliance with internal guidelines and market conditions.

Akhamere also led in-depth industry research on market and macroeconomic trends affecting credit risk, providing senior leadership with valuable insights for decision-making.

Monitored portfolio performance to ensure compliance with regulatory credit specifications and internal policies, reducing credit risk exposure by 15%.

The Africa Digital Awards serves as a platform to recognize and celebrate individuals and organizations driving digital transformation across various sectors on the continent.
